Important Information

This tour will expose you to some of the most interesting photographic opportunities available.  Based on the diversity of subjects,  it is recommended that you bring the following equipment:

  • Camera – DSLR or Mirrorless
  • Sturdy Tripod
  • Flash – off-camera if possible
  • Wide angle lens (at least 35mm – could be a zoom lens)
  • Longer focal length lens (at least 200mm – could be a zoom lens)
  • Computer with RAW processing software
  • Good shoes or boots for walking on uneven ground
  • Warm clothing for the days that we are at the higher altitudes where is it can be cold
We will be teaching more advanced techniques such as High Dynamic Range Photography and Panoramic Photography during the Tour.  Many of the shoots will be during sunrise and sunset where it is important to know how to operate your equipment.  To this end, you should have a working knowledge of how your camera and other equipment functions (bring a manual if necessary).  You should have a basic understanding of exposure including ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed.
The part of the United States that we are visiting is essentially high desert – it is dry and dusty!  The elevations we will experience will be from around 2500 to 8500 feet above sea level.  Additionally, there will be some walking involved to get to the best shooting locations.  You should be healthy and capable of carrying your equipment in these types of conditions.
